Portuguese Olympic Committee sends top athletes to the 1st Lusofonia Games 2007-09-05 18:34  MAIGOC


  Chairman ManuelSilvério of the 1st Lusofonia Games Organizing Committee (COJOL) metwith Portuguese Olympic Committee leadersin Lisbon lastTuesday, who assured to send thebest athletes to the inaugural games this October.

  The visit was composed of a series of meetingswith member NOCs of ACOLOP, through which to discuss every detail in runningthe games. In the discussions, COJOL was assured of having the best team from Portugal in theupcoming games.

  Participantsin the meetings include President Vicente Moura of Portuguese OlympicCommittee, Chef-de-mission of Portugalin the 1st Lusofonia Games Dr. Boa Jesus and COJOL member Dr. João Ribeiro.

  As thefirst sports event organized by the newly founded ACOLOP, the 1st LusofoniaGames is to be held in Macaobetween 7 ~ 15 October this year. More than 1,000 athletes shall compete in 8sports, including football event particularly for players under the age of 21.

  ACOLOP wascreated in Lisbon in 2004, with official membersof Macao China, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique,Brazil, São Tome e Príncipe, Cape Verde,Guinea-Bissau and East Timor,together with associated members EquatorialGuinea, Indiaand Sri Lanka.
