Manuel Silvério at AIPS Congress Enhance relationships, promote Macau 2007-05-17 18:35  MAIGOC


  Macao is meeting the international sports press at the 70thAIPS Congress commencing Wednesday (16 May) which saw the participation of 400journalists and guests from over 100 countries. Chairman of MAIGOC ManuelSilvério is in the occasion to introduce the Macao 2007, 2nd AsianIndoor Games to be held this coming October and November to internationalsports press. As Vice President and Chairman of the Media Committee of the OlympicCouncil of Asia (OCA), he seeks to reinforce the long-term relationship betweenOCA and AIPS.

  At the opening gala for the 70thAnniversary AIPS Congress, Manuel Silvério met AIPS President Gianni Merlo. Thegala was attended by several important personalities from the sports circle,from Olympic athletes to officials, and the Congress was officially opened by Austria’sFederal Chancellor, Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer.

  Macau Sports Press Association PresidentLao Iu Kong and SecretaryGeneral Nicholas Fong arerepresenting Macaomembership at the Congress.“Attending these meetings is very important for us,” Lao Iu Kong underlined.“It is an opportunity to understand how the contacts with the National OlympicCommittees are made, and to know the new trends of the international sportspress.” Besides the panels that are specifically about journalistic practices,the 70th AIPS Congress program also includes an important section forthe presentations of major sports events.

  At the meeting yesterday UEFA ispromoting the Euro 2008, which Austriais one of the host countries. Manuel Silvério who was invited to deliver aspeech at the AIPS Asian Continental Section meeting, will introduce to AIPSmembers the preparations for the Asian Indoor Games, as well as the visions andupdates of the OCA.
