First day Indoor Athletics test event shows effects

  The “Macau 2007 Asian Indoor AthleticsInvitation Tournament” finished on the first day (Feb 10) with 5 preliminaryevents and 11 final events for both men and women disciplines.

  As an individual test event for the 2ndAsian Indoor Games (2AIG), the tournament finished in the Macao East AsianGames Dome Arena on the first day.Operations of different areas are put into practice and the organizersdisclosed that the objective of the Indoor Athletics test event is primarily attained,which they will target at the problems for improvement

  MAIGOC Chairman Manuel Silvérioappeared during the tournament to attend the awarding ceremony.“Certainly the test event helps to wellprepare the 2AIG Indoor Athletics program in terms of hardware setups and stafforganizations in advance,” remarked the Chairman.

  “MAIGOC staffs of different areas haveparticipated in the organization of this Indoor Athletics tournament, fromcompetition organization, information technology, accommodation, hospitality,transportation arrangement to media services and a series of other activities,starting from now to make improvement in the level of organizing the 2AIG whichwill be held on October 26.”

  115 athletes coming from China, Hong Kong,China, Macau,China and Vietnam haveparticipated in today’s Indoor Athletics test event.Results of the first day tournament are asfollows:

  Women High Jump: 1st ZhangLan (6.10m, China); 2nd Xu Li (5.81m, China); 3rd Dao ThiHoai Thuong (5.59, Vietnam);

  Men High Jump: 1st Lui TszHin (1.96m, Hong Kong); 2nd Choi Hong Fai (1.90, Macau); 3rdLei Kuok Kuan (1.85m, Macau);

  Women Pole Vault: Lin Wan Nei (Hong Kong), 3m;

  Women Shot Put: 1st WongKit Man (12.10m, Macau); 2nd Tin Ka Yin (11.92m, Hong Kong); 3rdLee Ka Shun (11.41m, Hong Kong);

  Today’s Preview

  Today (Feb 11) will be last the day ofthe tournament.13 events will becarried out at 3:00pm.For men’s 800m,the titles will be competed by Henrique Chi Wai da Silva Kuok, Lei Chi Keong,Chan Hoi Kuan, Wong Chi Cheong of Macau and Tam Ho Yan, Lau Tak Lung of Hong Kong, who proceeded from yesterday’s heats.Other athletes of Macao include Leong Ka Man,Wong Man Wa (Women’s 800m Final), Henrique Chi Wai da Silva Kuok, Lei ChiKeong, Tou Weng Keong, Wong Ka Tong, Wong Chi Cheong (Men’s 1500m Final), ChengKa I (Women’s 1500m Final), Iong Kim Fai, Wong Chin Hong (Men’s 60m Hurdles),Cheong Ka Ian, Tam Ching Yio, Tam Sok Teng (Women’s 60m Hurdles), Chan Man Kei,Ng Ka Ian (Women’s High Jump), Leong Kin Kuan (Men’s Long Jump), Hong Hio Sam (Men’s Shot Put) , as well as Men’s and Women’s 4x400m Relays.
