Men Ice Hockey draw of lots for the 6th Asian Winter Games 2006-10-30  MAIGOC

  In the Chef-de-Mission Meeting at 29 October night,OCA Vice-President Manuel Silverio, together with Tomita Shoichi, Vice-Presidentof International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and President of Asian-OceaniaRegion of IIHF, presided over the draw of lots for men’s ice hockey event of the6th Asian Winter Games.

  President Chan Kuan Faiof Macau Ice Sports Federation represents Macao in the draw oflots.11 teams in the preliminary roundare divided into 4 groups: Macao China and Kuwaitin Group C with seed team China;DPR Korea in Group A with seed team Japan;Thailand and United Arab Emirates in Group B with seed team Kazakhstan; Malaysiaand Hong Kong China in GroupD with seed team Korea.

  This is Macao’sfirst time joining the Asian Winter Games. 23 athletes will take part in men’sice hockey while 3 men and 3 women will be in synchronized skating.During the previousAsian Winter Games in Aomori Japan, Macao also sent a delegation to join the activities organized by the organisingcommittee.Before the draw oflots was conducted, Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) and Changchun Asian Winter Games Organising Committee (CAWGOC) jointlyhosted a welcome dinner for all attendees of the Chef-de-mission meeting, amongwhich are Secretary-general of COC GuYaoming, Deputy Governor of Jilin Province Chen Xiaoguang, vice-mayors of Changchun Li Longxi and An Li.
