Portuguese Olympic Committee sends top athletes to the 1st Lusofonia Games

  Chairman Manuel Silvério of the 1st Lusofonia Games Organizing Committee (COJOL) met with Portuguese Olympic Committee leaders in Lisbon last Tuesday, who assured to send the best athletes to the inaugural games this October.

  The visit was composed of a series of meetings with member NOCs of ACOLOP, through which to discuss every detail in running the games. In the discussions, COJOL was assured of having the best team from Portugal in the upcoming games.

  Participants in the meetings include President Vicente Moura of Portuguese Olympic Committee, Chef-de-mission of Portugal in the 1st Lusofonia Games Dr. Boa Jesus and COJOL member Dr. João Ribeiro.

  As the first sports event organized by the newly founded ACOLOP, the 1st Lusofonia Games is to be held in Macao between 7 ~ 15 October this year. More than 1,000 athletes shall compete in 8 sports, including football event particularly for players under the age of 21.

  ACOLOP was created in Lisbon in 2004, with official members of Macao China, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Brazil, São Tome e Príncipe, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and East Timor, together with associated members Equatorial Guinea, India and Sri Lanka.
