Being situated in the Macau East Asian Games Dome, the international standard Ice Rink shall be in commence at 16:00 on April 21(Friday). The Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (MAIGOC) announced the information on the facilities and services that will be provided in the venue, as well as the arrangements for the launching ceremony yesterday (April 17).
On the press conference, it announced that the Secretary for Social and Culture Affairs Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On, will preside the launching ceremony for the Ice Rink on behalf of the Macau S.A.R. Chief Executive. In addition, MAIGOC has invited the Tokyo Women’s College of Physical Education Synchronized Skating Club and athletes of the Macau Ice Sports Federation to present a marvelous performance after the ceremony.
Citizens are welcome to attend the Inauguration Ceremony on April 21, at 16:00. No admission will be charged, only that first come, first serve. All facilities will be opened for public trial right after the ceremony until 22:00. Moreover, for public convenience, special transportation arrangement is made. Bus number 21, 21A, 25, 26 and 26A shall make a stop at the Macau East Asian Games Dome on the date of the ceremony from 14:00 – 22:30. Also, for safety reasons, children under 5 years old is not admitted and children less than 12 years old should be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years old or above.
The Ice Rink has an ice surface area of 1,735 m2. It has a capacity up to 300 persons at a time. There are 408 lockers and 1,003 free parking spaces provided for public use. Starting from April 22 until August 31, the facility will be opened to the public and an admission of MOP20.00 will be charged per person. Opening hours will be as follows:
Mondays to Saturdays 11:00 – 22:00
Sundays 10:30 – 22:00
In consideration of the inaccessibility to the Macau East Asian Games Dome, exclusive of the date of the launching ceremony, starting from April 22, MAIGOC will arrange free shuttle bus services traveling between the Macau Jockey Club and the Ice Rink. The services will be available to the public in the following periods:
Mondays to Fridaysevery 60 minutes from11:00 – 18:00
every 30 minutes from18:00 – 22:00
Saturdays and Sundaysevery 30 minutes from 11:00 – 22:00
The Chairman of MAIGOC Manuel Silvério added that, the Ice Rink is managed by the Committee at present. The facility features the recreational characteristics of the Macau East Asian Games Dome. It helps not only to promote ice sports development in Macau, but also to cope with the surrounding development at present or in the future, and to attract more people to visit the venue during leisure in habits. Following the principle of “sports for all”, admission will be charged at a reasonable and affordable price in order to encourage the citizens to participate in different kinds of sports.
