The 1st Asian Indoor Games will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, in November this year. 1st Vice President of Macao Olympic Committee Manuel Silvério will lead the Macao sports delegation as Chef-de-Mission to take part in this Asian sports event.
The Bangkok 1st Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (BAIGOC) held the 1st Asian Indoor Games Official Invitation Presentation Ceremony at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) yesterday (24th February). Manuel Silvério attended thia ceremony as Chef-de Mission of Macao sports delegation.
To honour the event, the Organiser has broadcasted the event live for one-hour across the country. The Organiser also arranged athletes performances of the nine sports in the 1st Asian Indoor Games. The 9 sports are: Aerobics, Dance Sport, Extreme Sports, Futsal, Hoop Takraw, Indoor Athletics, Indoor Cycling, Muay and Swimming. Olympic Council of Asia (OCA ) Vice President (South East Asia Zone) Celso L. Dayrit emphasized that the Asian Indoor Games is a biannual event held between the Olympic Games and the Asian Games, and praised the idea of holding such an event. He hopes that more people, especially Asian, will take part. He also expressed his anticipation for this creative and commercially valuable sport event. Thailand Minister of Tourism and Sport Sontaya Kunplome presided the ceremony and presented the invitations to the representatives of the 45 OCA member countries and regions. Minister Kunplome also delivered the vote of thanks to all guests present.
Macau will host the 2nd Asian Indoor Games in 2007.
Attendees at the Official Invitation Presentation Ceremony include also: Directors of MAIGOC Wallis O Lam, Isabel da Silva, Technician Henrique Ho. The Macao delegation return to Macao immediately after the ceremony.
