Strong beats and drums were the setting at today's opening of the Dragon and Lion Dance events at the Macau Forum. Macau China team won one Bronze medal and one Silver in Dragon Dance - Compulsory Exercise Final (9.12) and Southern Lion - Public Stake Compulsory Exercise (9.18). In the Dragon Dance China won Gold medal (9.26) followed by Chinese Taipei (9.15) with Silver. The Southern Lion - Public Stake Compulsory China won gold again (9.27) and Singapore was Bronze (9.07).
Tomorrow's competition will be the final with Dragon Dance - Optional Exercise Final.
Dragon dance is a form of traditional dance and performance in Chinese culture. In competition performances dragons made for these events and what are mostly seen in the impressive stage shows are made for speed and agility, to be used by the performing team for maximum trick difficulty.
