Middle-distance runners competed at full speed this morning at the Macau East Asian Games Dome.

India achieved a gold double in the competitive 1500m race. Paulose Sinmole claimed the women's title, clocking four minutes and 22.56 seconds despite the wound on her knee. The silver then went to Lukasheva Svetlana from Kazakhstan in a time of 4:24.92.

Likewise, her teammate Chatholi Hamza clocked three minutes and fifty seconds to become the men's champion. Both Indian finished off with a flourish.

“It's not my best time though,” the men's 1500m runner admitted after his winning, “this was like a fighting but I’d consider it as a practice race. It would be a good preparation for the Olympics in Beijing next year.”

Hamza added that this is his first time to be in this city. “I like competing in Macau,” he continued with a smile, “as well as the accommodation, food and people here.”
