Members from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Media Committee met yesterday during the Asian Indoor Games in Macau to discuss plans for promoting and internationalizing the Asian Games.
“This is a good occasion for us to outline the commitments we are ready to make in contribution to our Asian Continent,” said OCA Media Committee (MEC) Chairman Manuel Silvério. “Undoubtedly, there are a lot of tasks for us ahead, for the preparations of the Guangzhou Asian Games, the Bali Beach Games, the Asian Winter Games, and the next Asian Indoor Games.”
Also present in the meeting were MEC members Mr Vahid Moradi (IRI), Mr Joseph Abi Chahine (LIB), Mr Jugder Otogontsagaan (MGL), Mr Hilal Al-Sinani (OMA) and Mr Saoud Al-Tamimi (QAT), who exchanged opinions on assisting Asian Games organizers in setting the standards for Games Media Services, such as the installation of the Main Press Centre and venues installations, and on enforcing the ties with international media.
MEC plans to promote the OCA to international media through various programs, to introduce the different Asian culture and local events, and more importantly to educate, especially for the population in the various countries and regions across Asia, the elements that constitute the Asian Games held every year.
Later in the afternoon, OCA Executive Board members played against media participants of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games in a football invitation match at the Macao University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) Sports Field. The friendly exchange saw a result of a 2-2 tie after fours sessions of an enjoyable and exciting match.
