Rogge and Liu Peng arrived yesterday for 2AIG 2007-10-27  MAIGOC

IOC president Jacques Rogge and his wife arrived yesterday on 26th for the opening ceremony of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games, who was warmly received by Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On and MAIGOC staff members. Rogge said at the Macao International Airport he makes this visit to Macao particularly for the Opening Ceremony, hoping to witness such a grand event and looking forwards to the great success of the Games. Rogge expressed that IOC is highly interested in any new idea related to sport circle. Since the Asian Indoor Games is a brand new event, they are eager to have further understanding on it and explore more about the preparation course in all aspects from MAIGOC. The IOC president hopes he can know more about the development progress of the local sport circle in Macao.

Representatives from other sport-related authorities present yesterday include the Hein Verbruggen, Chairman of the Beijing Olympic Games Coordination Committee of IOC and Chairman of AGFIS, Yu Zaiqing, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Sports, IOC member and Deputy President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, as well as Timothy Fok, IOC member, Deputy President of the Olympic Council of Asia and President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong China.

Liu Peng shows his support to Macao’s grand event

On the other side, Mr. Liu Peng, Director of the General Administration of Sports and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, and his team arrived via the Barrier Gate to take part in the 2nd Asian Indoor Games Opening Ceremony and related activities, for which, Chairman Manuel Silvério of MAIGOC showed his warm welcome.
