A full team of all Games-related parties were at the Pre-Games Press Conference yesterday at the Main Press Center to introduce their roles in the Games and express their commitments and hopes to the sporting event. MAIGOC also took the opportunity to update the attendees with the final arrangement for the games’ opening ceremony in terms of traffic control, admission and audience services, etc. When presenting their plan on parking and traffic control, the Public Security Police Department calls for a maximum use of public transport to the ceremony and hope the audience can reach the venue as early as possible. Mr. Peter Ung, Director of MAIGOC, emphasized that the venue shall be closed after the start of the opening ceremony at 7:30pm and those who are late shall be arranged to watch the live broadcast of the show on a large LED screen at the outdoor car park adjacent to the Macao Olympic Aquatic Center.
MAIGOC’s Ticketing Department said all attendees at the opening ceremony or at any of the games events are entitled to lucky draw. The draw for the opening ceremony shall be made immediately after the conclusion of the show.
On the other hand, MAIGOC released that there are more than 20,000 athletes, staff members and volunteers participating in this upcoming games. According to MAIGOC Chairman Manuel Silverio, the 2nd Asian Indoor Games is the largest scale sporting meet in recent three years in Macao, which is proved true by the presence of Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, who will come to on Friday October 26 for the opening ceremony. Other VIPs on the opening include Liu Pang, Director of General Administration of Sport and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, and Yu Zaiqin, member of IOC and Vice-president of the Chinese Olympic Committee.
In the press conference presentations were also made by MAIGOC’s official partners, CTM and The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. CEO Vandy Poon of CTM commits to do their best to ensure the games a great success, while his counterpart Mr. Mark Brown, President of Sands Macao and The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel, expressed his honor to be a partner of MAIGOC and showed his full support to the games, which he considers as the largest in Macao in recent years.
