Sports delegations of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games arrive in Macao one after another. Until now, a total of 33 sports delegations are getting ready in Macao to compete for the glories. Sports delegations of Japan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, East Timor and Kazakhstan had their national flags hoisted yesterday (24th) at the Sai Van Lake Square. Feeling satisfied with the hospitality services and arrangement by the host city, they all wish their own team a great performance in the games.
From today on, Macao will keep receiving participating sports delegations for the games and thus making a busy schedule of flag-raising ceremonies With more than 200 members, the Chinese team kicks off the program for today at 10:00am, followed by the ceremonies for 16 delegations. MAIGOC indicated that the Macau 2007 2nd Asian Indoor Games breaks a record in terms of the number of participating countries and regions, making it a big challenge for both reception and protocol teams of the organising committee. Making the situation even worse is the lack of human resources for preparation and operation. Manuel Silverio, Chairman of MAIGOC, points out that it is the hard work and great effort by the staff members and volunteers that make successful every Games-related activity as planned. With the support of more than 300 staff members and temporary transfers and, over 5,000 volunteers, he believes the 2nd Asian Indoor Games will definitely open a new chapter in the local sports history.Guests present at yesterday’s flag-raising include Charles Lo King Chiu, Director of MAIGOC and Chan Chak Mo, sport committee member.
