2nd Asian Indoor Games Cultural Activities Series for Cultural Exchange

  Macao 2nd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (MAIGOC) held a press conference yesterday (11 Oct) at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf, to introduce the large-scale Cultural Exchange Night and a series of Cultural activities to be held during the 2nd Asian Indoor Games at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf. The cultural activities designated for athletes and VIPs participating at the Games, and also the public, will bring close encounters of Macao’s cultural integrity of the East and the West.

  The Cultural Exchange Night to be held on 28 October at the Roman Amphitheatre in the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf will be the most important part of the overall Cultural Activities Series. Performing groups from the participating countries such as Qatar and Vietnam, and also other groups including Student Musical Band “Tuna” from Catholic University of Portugal – Porto, and the Trial Bike World Champion Kenny Belaey will join local performers at this large-scale cultural event. Athletes, VIPs of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games and the public are welcomed to join.

  MAIGOC expressed that one of the purposes for hosting the Sport Program is for cultural exchanges. MAIGOC has observed cultural events organization at Olympic Games and Asian Games events during the design of detailed arrangement for Cultural activities of the Games. A large-scale of Cultural Exchange Night along with Macau Cultural Village and Cultural Road Show will hosted at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf. Aside from partaking in the competition events during the Games, members from all the Sport Delegations of the 45 countries and regions, and also VIPs can experience the cultural features of Macao and different regions of Asia through the series of Cultural activities. MAIGOC also indicated that the 2nd Asian Indoor Games, commencing from 26 October, will be a larger-scale sport program with more guests from overseas comparing with the East Asian Games and Lusofonia Games.

  In addition, all athletes and VIPs of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games are admitted for to the diversified Cultural Activities, including Chinese Calligraphy Demonstration, Chinese Fortune Telling, Portuguese Tile Display, Tricycle Ride, Portuguese Folk Dance and performance of Chinese Musical Instrument at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf from 27 Oct to 2 Nov.

  A Trial Bike Spectacular by the Trial Bike World Champion Kenny Belaey, from 29 Oct to 31 Oct, will be also included in the series.

  At the press conference yesterday, MAIGOC also expressed gratitude to the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf and Xinhua Entertainment Co. Ltd. in the cooperation and support to the hosting of three international multisport sport events continuously for three years. Under the scenic spots adaptations at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf and with the support of Xinhua Entertainment Co. Ltd production team, the Cultural Activities Series will further demonstrate the charms of Macao, and promote for 2nd Asian Indoor Games, during which friendships between the participating delegations will foster.

  Directors of Macao 2nd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee Eric Chau and Isabel Silva, General Manager of Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Patrick Leung and General Manager of Xinhua Entertainment Co. Ltd. Steven Ng also attended yesterday’s press conference.

  The second edition of the Asian Indoor Games will be hosted in Macao China, commencing from 26 October to 3 November 2007. The innovative and appealing sport program consists of 17 Competition Sports and 3 Demonstration Sports, with participation from 45 countries from all regions of Asia.
