China Insurance announces sponsorship of the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games

  Macao-18th September, 2007: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Macao 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (MAIGOC) has signed an exclusive agreement with China Insurance (Macau) Company Limited (CIMCL) as the Official Insurance Supplier for the 2nd Asian Indoor Games Macau 2007, providing comprehensive insurance services and financial support to help stage the Games.

  OCA Vice-President and Chairman of Board of Directors of MAIGOC Manuel Silvério commented that the cooperation between OCA, MAIGOC and China Insurance is fundamental to hosting large-scale sport events. “We are pleased to have China Insurance sign on as the Official Insurance Supplier. Along with our successful collaboration and experience gained in working with China Insurance from the 4th East Asian Games and 1st Lusofonia Games, it demonstrates another strong sign of support from the business community of their commitment to local sports development. We are proud to work again with China Insurance that shares our vision and values.”

  On behalf of China Insurance, Managing Director Jiang Yidao expressed honor to provide insurance services for the largest sporting event in Macao's history. He stated, “China Insurance has become a main force in the insurance industry in Macao and Hong Kong since it was established more than 50 years. China Insurance is now regarded as a market leader and is committed to quality and excellence. China Insurance will assist in boosting the local sport business market and will even initiate more sport related insurance projects for the future economic development of Macao.”

  The comprehensive agreement covers insurance for the Games family such as athletes, media and volunteers. The indemnity which is estimated to be valued at a seven-figure amount will also cover all Games sporting competition venues and auxiliary facilities.

  China Insurance is a subsidiary of State-owned China Insurance (Holdings) Company Limited. Its business was established as an insurance department of the Nam Tong Bank. Later in 1978, China Insurance Company Limited Macau Branch came into being, and in 2003 the company was renamed as China Insurance (Macau) Company Limited. A major player in Macao’s insurance industry, China Insurance occupies a total market share of 27.7%. Besides being the exclusive insurance supplier for the 4th East Asian Games and 1st Lusofonia Games, it has also covered many major construction projects like Macao International Airport, Macao Tower and The Sai-Van Bridge. Recently, China Insurance has further boosted its business internationally.

  China Insurance joins an impressive line-up of corporate support for Macau 2007.   The second edition of the Asian Indoor Games will be hosted in Macao China, commencing from 26 October to 3 November 2007. The innovative and appealing sport program consists of 17 competing sports and 3 demonstration sports, with participation from 45 countries from all regions of Asia.
