Manuel Silvério visited China’s Embassy at Bishket Kyrgyzstan Plan to Promote its Culture in Macao

  Manuel Silvério arrived at Kyrgyzstan capital city of Bishket on 3 September in representation of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to participate in the OCA/OS (Olympic Solidarity) Regional Forum for Central Asian National Olympic Committees (NOCs). Before the meeting, the OCA Vice President visited the Chinese Embassy in Bishket, received by the Embassy’s Chargés d'affaires Zhao Mingwen.

  Manuel Silvério introduced to Zhao Mingwen the OCA/OS Regional Forum for Central Asian NOCs, and also updates on the Macau 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games to be held this October. Zhao referred to Manuel Silvério visit to Bishket at this time is especially meaningful due to the earlier successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit (SCOS) in Kyrgyzstan on 16 August. He further explained that Sport can achieve more than the sport itself, and extend to become part of the diplomatic exchanges, citing the example of China’s “Ping Pong Diplomacy”. Zhao Mingwen outlined the importance of communication between China and the five countries in Central Asia; he hoped that Manuel Silvério will make good use of sport as a bridge to strengthen and develop culture and sport with countries in Central Asia.

  After a detailed understanding of the overall development of the society and sport in Macao from Manuel Silvério, Zhao Mingwen affirmed the positive effect of sport to the policy of ‘one country, two systems’. Zhao hosted an official dinner for Manuel Silvério and representatives from MAIGOC after the meeting, and requested Manuel Silvério to send his regards to all his fellow colleagues at the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao Special Administrative Region.

  On the same day, Manuel Silvério also met Kyrgyzstan Commisioner Against Corruption Manas Akamatbekov. Akamatbekov stressed that in view of the the important role of Security measures in the SCOS held earlier, he looks forward to visiting Macao at the Asian Indoor Games to observe security work for a large-scale multisport event, and to garnish experiences for future events in Kyrgyzstan. As for the Kyrgyzstan NOC, President Murat Saralino wishes to delegate a cultural group to Macao, to promote the Kyrgyzstan culture and custom during 2AIG. He thought Kyrgyzstan would send a cultural group to Macao. Manuel Silvério welcomes the group to Macao, and express eager support to the Kyrgyzstan plan.

  On 4 – 5 September, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Regional Forum for Central Asian NOCs will be held in famous tourist scenery, Issyk Kul situated in Bishket of Kyrgyzstan.
