Macau Fisherman's Wharf is announced as an Official Sponsor of Macau 2007

  Macau – 25th July 2007: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Macao 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (MAIGOC) has signed Macau Fisherman's Wharf International Investment Ltd as an Official Sponsor of the Games. Under the exclusive sponsorship agreement, Macau Fisherman's Wharf will provide significant financial and promotional support for the Games and has been appointed as one of the prestigious venue for the Asian Indoor Games countdown clock.

  Manuel Silvério representing the OCA as Vice-President and Chairman of the Board of Directors for MAIGOC expressed confidence in the collaboration, which he added, “the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf has over the years become one of our long standing collaborators and has worked with us on the past two Games. Therefore, it is particularly meaningful for us to officially welcome the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf onboard the Sponsorship Program of the Games. This collaboration certainly complements our overall promotional plan for the Games, and we see it as a significant step towards contributing to the success of the Games.”

  On behalf of MAIGOC, Director for International Affairs, Promotion and Marketing Isabel da Silva further stated, “in addition to our countdown clock, Macau Fisherman's Wharf will also be supporting other promotional and cultural activities of the Games at their property. They greatly assist MAIGOC with our comprehensive and integrated marketing programme to increase the awareness of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games. Our collective advertising and promotional efforts will help to ensure that the Games is a great success".

  The first ever world class themed entertainment attraction in Macau, Macau Fisherman’s Wharf occupies an area of over 111,500m2, with a total investment reaching over HKD 2 billion. MAIGOC recently held its first ceremony at the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf by celebrating the '100 Days' milestone until the Games, launching the Official Countdown Clock and the Games Anthem at the Roman Amphitheatre. The commemorative event attracted over 1,000 spectators and featured a Sports Parade and promotional activities to build further excitement for the forthcoming Games.

  The Asian Indoor Games is an innovative multi-sport event created by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The unique sports meet is composed of sports that are not included in the Asian Games or the Olympic Games but have strong popularity and potential. The program is aimed at encouraging a higher level of participation among the youth of Asia through a greater variety of sports that places emphasis on the leisure and entertainment aspects of the sport.

  Organized biannually, the second edition of the Asian Indoor Games will be hosted in Macao China, commencing from 26 October to 3 November 2007. The innovative and appealing sport program consists of 17 competing sports and 2 demonstration sports, with participation from 45 countries from all regions of Asia.

  The Macau Fisherman's Wharf joins a high caliber list of Official Sponsors including Air Macau, Bonaqua, Coca-Cola, Li-Ning, Macau Beer and Sina.com, in addition to the Venetian Macau Resort Hotel and CTM as the Official Partners of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games.
