The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel signs on as Official Partner of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games

  Macau – 28th June 2007: The internationally renowned Venetian hotel will be the Official VIP Hotel, Hospitality Partner and Headquarters Hotel of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games to be held this October. At a signing ceremony yesterday with the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Macao 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (MAIGOC), The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel signed on as Official Partner of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games. Under the agreement The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel will provide accommodation and catering services to OCA and NOC members, VIPs, officials, sport federations delegates and government representatives. The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel will also be the prestigious hosting venue of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games Closing Ceremony on 3 November 2007.

  OCA Director General and Technical Director Husain Al Musallam expressed "We are delighted to welcome The Venetian Macau Resort Hotel to the OCA family. The agreement represents an important partnership for the 2nd Asian Indoor Games. The Venetian Macau Resort Hotel will make a significant contribution and commitment to serve a multitude of functional areas which are integral to the success of the Games including Games Services, Media Services, NOC Services, Marketing, Sponsorship, Corporate Hospitality, Ceremonies and Events. Working hand in hand with the Venetian Macau Resort Hotel will ensure that the OCA can deliver the highest standards of service for Games participants, enhance their hospitality experience and set a new benchmark for the Asian Indoor Games."

  “This is the first time in the multi-sport organizing history of Macao that the main operational and administrative units will be within the Games Headquarters Hotel, including the national Olympic committees’ secretariats and most notably the Media Centre.” stated MAIGOC Chairman of Board of Directors Manuel Silvério. “This coming July MAIGOC will be organizing the warm up events to the Asian Indoor Games, with the participation of English Premier League Champion Manchester United, and the support of our Official Partner The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel. Together we will be receiving dignitaries from across the world during the Asian Indoor Games, and we are eager to demonstrate Macao’s hospitality.”

  On behalf of The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel, President and Chief Operating Officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. William P. Weidner anticipated the hosting of the Games in Macao. “The 2nd Asian Indoor Games Macao 2007 will be one of the most exciting sporting events organized by the Macao SAR Government this year, and we are delighted to be partnering with the Organizing Committee and the Olympic Council of Asia and are extremely excited to be serving as the Official Headquarter Hotel,” said Mr. Weidner, “Coupled with our upcoming Venetian Macao Cup, the NBA China Games 2007 and The Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown, Macao will soon be offering a wide variety of exciting and unique sporting and entertainment events and thus attracting visitors from throughout the region.”

  The Venetian Macao will be one of the largest hotels in Asia and will be Macao’s first true mega-resort. It will feature 3,000 all-suite rooms, 1.2 million-square feet of meeting, convention and exhibition space, world-class entertainment in a 15,000-seat arena, and an impressive array of dining, shopping, and recreation options.

  The Venetian Macao, located in Macao, Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, will also serve as the anchor of the Cotai Strip, a master planned development of resort and casino properties. The Cotai Strip™ will feature hotels operated by some of the most prestigious names in the hotel industry, including Four Seasons, Sheraton, St. Regis, Shangri-La, Traders, Hilton, Conrad, Fairmont, and Raffles. Las Vegas Sands Corp. will own and construct each of the hotels as well as operate the casinos and entertainment venues in each hotel.

  The Asian Indoor Games is an exciting multi-sport event created by OCA. The unique sports meet is composed of sports that are not included in the Asian Games or the Olympic Games but have strong popularity and potential. The program is aimed at encouraging a higher level of participation among the youth of Asia through a greater variety of sports that places emphasis on the leisure and entertainment aspects of the sport.

  Organized biennially, the second edition of the Asian Indoor Games will be hosted in Macao China, commencing from 26 October to 3 November 2007, consisting of 17 competing sports and 2 demonstration sports, with expected NOC participation from 45 countries throughout all regions of Asia.
