ThreeStanding Committees of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) met yesterday (June 26) in Macau to participate in the Chef-de-Mission for the 2nd AsianIndoor Games.The second largest Olympic sport organization in the world, OCA is divided into several standing committees which specialize in different fields. On the first day of the meeting,the OCA Standing Committees for Athletes, Medical and Sports held their own discussion sessions individually.Today, OCAVice President and also Macau Olympic Committee (MOC) First Vice PresidentManuel Silvério will participate in the meeting of the newly elected OCA MediaCommittee as the Chairman.
This is the second meet of the StandingCommittees since they assumed into office last month in Almaty,in Kazakhstan,during the 50th Executive Council of OCA.The main objective of the individual workinggroup is to introduce the progress of their preparations for the Games and todraw directions for future development as well as to reinforce coercion amongthe OCA members. Major representatives of each Standing Committee have allparticipated in the individual meetings, during which members of the OCA havealso introduced the plan for marketing and medical services.
The reunions were attended by most of the membersof the Standing Committees. Yuko Arakida, from Japan, is the maximum responsibleby the Athletes Committee and the group that works specifically on Sports isleaded by Wei Jizhong, member of the Chinese Olympic Committee. The presidentof the Medical Services Committee is M. Jegathesan, from Malaysia.
Tomorrow, also in Macau, two more sessions of theseOCA groups will be held: one is the Media Committee meeting, presided by ManuelSilvério, and the other is the Cultural and Education Committee, leaded byHemasiri Fernando, from SriLanka.
