Macau – 11th May 2007: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Macao 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee (MAIGOC) signed a sponsorship agreement with Li Ning Company Limited as an Official Sponsor and exclusive Sportswear Apparel Sponsor of the 2nd Asian Indoor Games. Through the sponsorship, Li-Ning Company Limited will outfit staff, officials, media and over 10,000 volunteers of the Games with uniforms under their flagship Li-Ning brand.
Li-Ning has been a long standing supporter of several high profile sporting events and is proud to contribute to Macau's largest sporting event Li Ning Brand Marketing System Vice President William Wu explains, “Li Ning's participation in Macau 2007 stems from our vision to bring sport into part of everyday living. Through our sponsorship of this diversified multi-sport event, Li-Ning expresses our support to bring positive impact to a greater variety of sports".
The Asian Indoor Games is an exciting multi-sport event created by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The unique sports meet is composed of sports that are not included in the Asian Games or the Olympic Games but have strong popularity and potential. The program is aimed at encouraging a higher level of participation among the youth of Asia through a greater variety of sports that places emphasis on the leisure and entertainment aspects of the sport. A few examples are the Extreme Sports (or X-Sports), Electronic Sports, and Dance-sport which form part of the sports program of the Macau 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games.
William Wu expressed confident in the collaboration with MAIGOC and OCA, which he added, “In supporting the 2nd Asian Indoor Games, we are further promoting the noble ideals of the Olympic Movement focused on international respect, friendship and goodwill which is also synonymous with Li-Ning brand values. We are also acknowledging that Olympism is present through many different sports. Li Ning Company Limited is closing the gaps between our everyday lives to sporting events, so that more people can learn to enjoy and participate in sports, whilst sharing in the spirit of the Olympic ideals.”
MAIGOC Chairman of the Board of Directors, Manuel Silverio stated, ‘An event of this magnitude requires significant support by Li-Ning who will provide over 50,000 specially designed sports apparel and uniforms to meet the requirements of the Organizing Committee. Organized biannually, the second edition of the Asian Indoor Games will be hosted in Macao China, commencing from 26 October to 3 November 2007. The innovative and appealing sport program consists of 17 competing sports and 2 demonstration sports, with participation from 45 countries from all regions of Asia.
