The SportAccord 2006 was held from April 3rd to 7th in Seoul. Representatives of Macao 2nd Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee has again taken the opportunity to promote the Games after joining in the meeting of Olympic Council of Asia, the 15th ANOC General Assembly and the National Olympic Committees and International Olympic Committee Executive Board Joint Meeting.

This is the first time SportAccord, the annual international convention, ever takes place in Asia. Over 900 influential sports figures from 60 nations have joined in. Among them are administrators from about 100 International Sports Federations affiliated to the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), and the Association of the International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board, as well as members of host cities of different sports events and specialists in the sports industry.

MAIGOC has taken this opportunity to introduce the Games to participants at the convention through promotional leaflets and souvenirs, together with display of MAIGOC’s official website (maigoc2007.com) and instant reference at the AIG II exhibition stand.

“There’s no doubt that it is just the right time for us to show the international sport communities our preparations and efforts for the 2nd Asian Indoor Games,” says MAIGOC Chairman Manuel Silvério in confidence, “and we will make good use of the benefits to meet and share our experiences and information with all participants that are gathered here, what’s more, to spread the message that the 2nd Asian Indoor Games will be staged in Macau next year.”

The SportAccord 2006 Opening Ceremony was held on 3 April. Owned by GAISF, ASOIF and ALOWF, the international sports convention encompasses the Associations’ congress and General Assemblies, including open conference sessions covering topics on contemporary issue, workshops, seminars and an exhibition featuring more than 60 exhibitors covering from sports governing bodies, organising committees, bid cities to commercial organizations that are gathered from all corners of the world.
