The 43rd Executive Board Meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) assembled in Kuwait for 2 days between 4-5 February. Chairman of the Board of Directors of MAIGOC and 1st Vice-President of the Macao Olympic Committee, Manuel Silvério reported the preparations for the “Macau 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games” in the meeting. Along with Mr. Silvério are MAIGOC Director Isabel da Silva and Manager Che Kim Cheong.
The MAIGOC delegation departed on 4th February to participate in the 43rd Executive Board Meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in Kuwait. Chairman Manuel Silvério presented to all members the structure of MAIGOC and preparations for the Games. According to Mr. Silvério, “the ‘Macau 2005, 4th East Asian Games’ to be held in 2005 has provided training for staff as well as volunteers capable of organizing high quality multi-sports events. These human resources will continue to serve in the ‘Macau 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games’.” Mr. Silvério also introduced the preparations for the “Macau 2005, 4th East Asian Games” including commercial, television broadcasting, information technology, sports venues etc., which laid good foundations for the organization of the “Macau 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games”.
Mr. Silvério also summarized the sports program of the “Macau 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games” in which he emphasized that MAIGOC will work closely in the coordination of technical issues and organizing of high quality sports with OCA’s Coordination Committee and Sports Committee. MAIGOC is at the moment in preparation for the Asian Indoor Games Coordination Meeting to be held in February upon request of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). This meeting will be convened between OCA Coordination Committee and the different International and Asian sports federations. The meeting will be focused on competition and various issues regarding the Games.
Director of MAIGOC, Isabel da Silva introduced the Mascot of the “Macau 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games” – “Mei Mei” and also the present development in Marketing for the “Macau 2005, 4th East Asian Games”. With the experience and commercial opportunities of the East Asian Games, it is believed that the partnership of MAIGOC can be inherent from the “Macau 2005, 4th East Asian Games.”
MAIGOC Manager Che Kim Cheong, as support personnel for Information Technology, introduced in the meeting IT installation and launching in all venues, the Competition Information Technology systems and Accreditation arrangements, which are aimed to satisfy information needs of media efficiently and effectively.
President of the Executive Board of OCA, Sheikh Ahmand Al-Fahand Al-Sabah complimented the suggestion of including Electronic Games in the “Macau 2007, 2nd Asian Indoor Games” sports program. He thinks that the organization of Electronic Games, which is a popular sports in Asia, can raise popularity of the sports in the 45 participating countries and regions. It is expected too that the sports can attracts all OCA member countries and regions to participate.
Representatives of the International Olympic Council also participated in this meeting and representatives from the different organizing committees briefly introduced their preparations, including 2006 Doha Asian Games, 2007 Chang Chun Asian Winter Games, 2005 Bangkok 1st Asian Indoor Games. The Bangkok 2005, 1st Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee announced that the Invitation Presenting Ceremony will be held on 24th February this year.
The Bangkok 2005, 1st Asian Indoor Games Chef de Mission Meeting will be held between 26-27 September and Macao will be participating.
The delegation led by Mr. Manuel Silvério will be departing Kuwait on 6th February 2005.
