TheOlympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Macau 2007, 2nd Asian IndoorGames Organising Committee in cooperation with the Fédération Internationale deBasketball (FIBA) have accepted to include the “3 on 3” basketball as ademonstration sport for the 2nd Asian Indoor Games.
To beheld on 3 November at the IPM Multisport Pavilion, the “3 on 3” basketball willconsists of 3 players and a substitute each of two competing teams, and playedon a half court of the standard FIBA court.The first team to score 16 points will be the winner of the match if ithappens before the end of the regular playing time of 2x 8 minutes.
Inorder to gain attraction of young generation, FIBA and the InternationalOlympic Committee (IOC) have also agreed to include the “3 on 3”game in theYouth Olympic Games (YOG) to be held every 4 years, which inauguration editionwill be in August 2010, amongst other Olympic sports.
TheAsian Indoor Games, an exciting multi-sport event created by the OCA, is composed of some sports not included in the OlympicGames but have strong popularity and potential, encouraging at the same time ahigher level of participation among the youth of Asiathrough a greater variety of sports.
Organizedbiannually, the second edition of the Asian Indoor Games will be hosted inMacao China, from 26 October to 3 November 2007. The innovative and appealingsport program consists of 17 competing sports and 3 demonstration sports, withparticipation from 45 countries from all regions of Asia.
