MAIGOC attends AIPS 70th - Congress Showcasing Macau to the World 2007-05-15  MAIGOC

  It is an opportunity in promoting the Asian IndoorGames to sport media worldwide. MAIGOC Board of Directors Chairman Manuel Silvério has arrived today (16 May) in Bregenz, Austria where over 400 hundred representatives from the sportpress gathered for the AIPS (International Sports Press Association) 70th Congress. The annual meeting is attended by delegates from 112 countries and regions members of theassociation, as well as by guests and observers from various sports organisations. Manuel Silvério will present on the preparations for Macau 2007, 2nd AsianIndoor Games to be held this October, and otherparticipating organising committees include Euro 2008 and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

  “It is excellent timing for us to promote themessage of the Macau 2nd Asian Indoor Games and the visionsof OCA,” Manuel Silvério who has recently also assumesthe posts as OCA Vice President and Chairman of MediaCommittee stated. “The AIPS 70thCongresswill be attended by sports journalists across the world, including a significant number of Asian representatives,” he underlined. Amongst the participants are Macau Sports Press Association PresidentLau Iu Kong and Secretary GeneralNicholas Fong.

  The newly elected OCA Chairman of Media Committee is also looking forth to tighten the bonds between AIPS and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) inAustria,“OCA is dedicated to build stronger communication channelswith international media. The AIPS assumes a very important role in international Sports.Besides informing the public on sports news updates, it also analyzes the diverse phenomena associatedto sports.We have common aims and a deeper relationship will be fruitful for both, especiallyin the organization of large-scale sports events, as those organized by OCA.”
